Zakat is a right of the poor over the wealth of those who have. When you mark your donation as Zakat, it is held in a restricted fund and distributed only to the categories entitled to receive it: the poor, the needy and others named in the Quran.
Every HMD programme is Zakat eligible, so you can direct your Zakat to water, food, shelter, education or sponsorship and receive the same photographic proof as every other donation.
“Receiving Zakat meant I could bury my husband with dignity and feed my children in the same week.”
Why we do it
“Take from their wealth a charity to purify them and increase them thereby.”
Quran 9:103
